Recently I had the opportunity to team up with ConcreteAnswers.tv to discuss current environmental issues at concrete plants. Click on the video below to check it out!
Some of the topics I touched on were process water management, returned concrete management, stormwater management and permitting, and SPCC plan preparation and implementation. These are the areas that are receiving a lot of regulatory attention these days!
The problem lies in companies have a sense of complacency in their current environmental compliance status, compounded with a basic lack of understanding of what’s required at their facilities. Given the current enforcement position of the USEPA and various states environmental enforcement departments, this can lead to a dangerous combination!
How should a producer address this? Seek assistance when needed! Help is available from a lot of sources, like qualified consultants (such as Resource Management Associates), state concrete agencies, other concrete companies, and even the regulatory agencies themselves.
