CIF April March 2010 Process Water or Stormwater Cover

What's the difference between process water and stormwater? This article, written by Doug Ruhlin, clearly explains the difference.

Is this important? Absolutely, since many get this important distinction confused. And, since stormwater regulations (and NPDES permits) usually ONLY cover stormwater discharges, it is critical to understand the difference. Also, don't overestimate the presence of process water at a site by confusing it with stormwater. Read this article for some clear guidance.

This article was written for concrete plants, but is equally as applicable at precast, asphalt, crushed stone, sand & gravel, and nearly any other type of industrial facility.
